For over 60 years the name Scala stands for high-quality measuring tools. In the year 1938, Friedrich J. Schall founded the company which produced different versions of slide calipers. At first only the domestic market was served.
In fifties the distribution network in the domestic market and in the European countries extended. In the following years the export to the USA and South America begun.
In 1960 the company put a new development on the market, the first slide caliper made of plastic. Alinox range of Scala pocket slide calipers were introduced in 1976. The rule and the slide were made of aluminium, the measuring surfaces were produced of stainless and hardened steel. In 1984 the pocket slide calipers type Columbus with a non-reflective graduation went into production.
In 2009 the company moved to Dettingen/Teck
In spite of many changes in the course of the company history two principles have not been affected at Scala: the great demand on the quality of the products and the custom-made service. Scala will remain true to these principles for the future.
